Contents Page Analysis

CONTENTS PAGE

I decided on a simple layout for my contents page in order to avoid creating lots of mistakes. I kept the 'traditional' titles for my contents such as 'News' and 'Features' as well as adding in a new one 'Around The World' to suit the theme of my magazine.

Double Page Spread Analysis

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD

For my double page spread, I used the Leighton Meester interview done by Marie Claire as inspiration. It helped me to create an idea for my pull-quote design.

FRONT COVER

For my front cover I took inspiration from mainly 'Interview' magazine mainly because I liked the way it looked since it had a very sophisticated yet edgy style which is the type of the style that I was going for, for my front cover. I used the font 'Bakery' as my typeface since it has a fun look to it. Like my mood-board says, I included foreign stars since that is the theme for my magazine.

Readership profile

For my magazine I included a readership profile, this helps me to understand my audience, thus allowing me to create better content for them.

Mood board

I created a mood board in order to express my ideas and plan carefully for my magazine. For the mood board, I decided to follow the style of 'Interview' magazine because of it's edgy yet, sophisticated look. I chose the colours white, grey and black to go along with it.

College Magazine

For my college magazine front cover, I used the editing software programs Adobe Photoshop CS6 and Adobe Indesign. In Photoshop, I created a 'Dark Grunge' effect and added it to my image, I chose to add this effect because it made the cover stand out more and seem more subtle. For Indesign, I carefully placed each piece of text accordingly to reduce cluttering.

 Anatomy of cover design.

For this piece, I researched the different elements of cover design used by magazine companies. I applied what I learnt from the research to the cover that I have selected. Before researching this I never realised how many elements there are to a magazine cover but now I have a better understanding and so much more respect for magazine companies.

Getting used to working with the camera.

For my first lesson, I was taught how to use a professional camera and the different camera shot techniques (medium, long etc) that are used by professionals to magnify the elements of their desired photo.
